Yes, I know I have skipped a day…. Sorry! Was a shit day all up, however I made it through the day at work & don’t have a great deal to mention for Friday. So here is the breakdown:
Breakfast: Vanilla shake, Berrocca.
Lunch: Optifast Choc Bar & Benefibre.
Dinner: 2 cups of thick veg soup (zucchini, carrot, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, Garlic & Ginger) & 1 Optifast Berry Crunch Bar.
So as for today……
Had a nice sleep in & a quiet morning. Then Mum, Mum in law, Dean & myself went shopping at Stocklands Shellharbour. Mum & I had haircuts, then continued on with a little retail therapy. Bought some new clothes for mum. Lay-byed a new Tshirt & Nightie for myself. Went to the food court so the others could have lunch (which I suffered through for the first time in this journey) then purchased seafood for tonight’s dinner.
We came home to relax & watch the V8s on tele & were shocked at the incident that occurred at Ipswich Raceway where a Mini hurtled into the crowd injurying 2.
Dean & I began preparing the meal for the household – Shallow-Fried Spice Coated Squid & Fresh Prawns with oven cooked homecut chips & Salad. Lynda doesn’t eat seafood so I coated strips of chicken thigh fillet in Chinese Five Spice & Cornflour. Apparently these were all nice, however of course I ate my 2 cups of salad without too much complaint(!) & hoped that the rest of the family enjoyed theirs.
After dinner we went upstairs where Dean, Mum & myself relaxed in the lounge watching Avatar for the first time. OMG! We were so blown away by it & loved every minute! I even asked Dean at the end if we could watch it yet again LOL. We can totally understand what all the hype was about it, though we never realy expected it not to be exciting. We do however regret not going to see it at the cinema. Now I am ready to settle down for the night before spending time housecleaning tomorrow in preparation for next Thursday. Only a few days to go now!!!!
Today:
Breakfast: Strawberry shake.
Lunch: Optifast Choc Bar & Benefibre.
Dinner: 2 cups salad (Baby Spinach Leaves, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumber, Green Capsicum, Alfalfa Sprouts with soy sauce) & 1 Optifast Choc Bar.

YES!!!! It is time for the Supercheap Auto 1000 @ Mt Panorama once again! I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since sitting hillside witnessing the rivalry of Holden vs Ford.
Ahhhhhhh! What a week ahead we have! We have spent the past few days anxiously counting down the hours & packing the Trailer & cars. This year even though fuel prices are against us, we are taking 2 vehicles to ensure everyone is comfortable on the journey. This will also allow us plenty of room for the packed camp gear etc. It’s amazing how much stuff you take for a week’s worth of camping!
So off we head tomorrow to set up camp in The Chase as per last year. As of Thursday we will be able to sit back & relax with a few JD cans & the rumble of the V8s at our feet. Hoping to catch up with an old friend of mine from Berridale which we see only once a year at the mountain. I will be cheering on Team Red & generally just enjoying the best week of my year. Other than that, I am looking forward to doing SFA!
That’s Life! Magazine is once again offering the Great Aussie Pie Contest.
My very best friend & her partner owns a store down the South Coast on the Princes Hwy called East Lynne Store. They have been involved in award winning pie making since taking ownership several years ago & have continued on the legacy. It’s is a busy little stop where you can get Everyday Necessities, Pies & Cakes, Hot Coffee, Newspapers, Local Wares, Ice Creams & Ice etc as well as a Liquor Store & Petrol.
Friendly faces & good conversation with locals. We stop in every trip to Mum’s on our way home for a quick catch up & to refill with supplies & we ALWAYS buy Family Pies for dinner. Tonight we are enjoying a Steak & Onion & a Chicken, Bacon & Leek pie followed by Lemon Meringue Pie… MMMMM! All Homemade by Michelle & her lovely staff on the premises.
These guys are often woken at ungodly hours by petrol-stranded or broken down tourists passing by or with grim news of Car accidents along the road. They look after the locals by ensuring fresh supplies of bread & milk etc is available each & every day to save the trip into the nearest town which is just over 20kms away. Passerbys are also well looked after with their service, groceries & knowledge & information available of the local area.
They have 2 very young children, which are also my Godchildren hehe. So I am of course giving them my vote as not only do I believe their pies deserve the fame, but so do they!
So here’s to Michelle & Colin at East Lynne Store… Good Luck to you guys!
If you love their pies & agree or just feel like joining me in this competition, please vote for them by SMS. Send the code 007 to 19710179. Alternatively you can call 1900 955 031.
Did I mention each & every vote you place enters you into a Draw with That’s life! for the chance to win $500??!! Get voting!

It’s always good watching the world come together as one. The 2008 Beijing Olympics is no exception.
The medals have begun to be won in several events. All of them no doubt deserving to the respective winners.
It was a satisfying feeling watching Australia collect it’s first Gold Medal today at the swimming. Not only this, but Stephanie Rice earned herself a new World Record in the water finishing the Women’s 400m Individual Medley at 4:29:45. IMPRESSIVE!
Australia also became proud to bear a Bronze Medal later in the Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay.
Congratulations to the 4 girls Cate Campbell, Alice Mills, Melanie Schlanger & Libby Trickett.
Silver was won by the United States & Gold went to the Netherlands.
Congratulations to you all for your efforts so far. You’ve done yourselves & your Nations proud.
I have added a Beijing Olympics 2008 Medal Tally widget to my sidebar where I can keep track of the medals at a glance when needed. You can get yours here too.
Circumcision is a very volitile discussion topic.
I came across this vid whilst perusing the BubHub forums, where a member posted it to try to “enlighten” the discussion.
I’d love to know your thoughts…
Sad news came over the radio yesterday that Ashley Cooper passed away in Royal Adelaide Hospital at around 1.00PM local time (1.30PM AEDT). There has been a Tribute page set up at Ashley’s website where you can read & post your own tribute to Ashley & his family.
Say G’day to those who’ve passed & swap stories with Brocky. May you rest now.
The V8 Supercar Season has kicked off in Adelaide for the Clipsall 500. It has been a fairly eventful weekend with crashes in all races, the most focus being on Fujitsu Series Driver Ashley Cooper. The crash he was singularly involved in saw him treated on track by paramedics with an Emergency Tracheotomy followed by being rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital where he is now on Life Support.
Thoughts are with his family who are by his side.
Ashley is an Ulladulla family man. Perhaps his residing so close to where I grew up has brought my attention to him in the depth that it has. My feelings are that no matter who has been injured & wherever they reside, my thoughts are always with them & their respectful families. I know the anxious feeling I have right now of hoping for good news any minute is that of when our annual pilgrimage to Mt Panorama was saddened with the passing of Mark Porter after his accident on Friday 6th October 2006. Mark ended hisfight & sadly departed on Sunday, 8th October 2006.
I remember Friday evening, Saturday & Sunday morning was spent with SK , Duff & myself searching news on our mobile phones for updates at our campsite. It was a sombre feeling trudging to trackside knowing someones life hung in the balance for the sport we were there cheering on & supporting. I cannot explain the emotions we dealt with. I feel them all over again.
This motorsport has a huge following. We all agree that Holden vs Ford rivalry is strong & enjoyable, as most banter is harmelss fun. However knowing that the drivers risk their lives everytime they get behind the wheel makes us all respect each & every one of them. No matter which team they drive for, or which badge they shine.
Please pull through Ashley. Your Family, Friends & Fans need you. Godspeed.
